I think the people who wrote the Bible intended for it to be literal. Turning the whole thing into vague symbolism is the Christians way of stopping it becoming totally unbelievable. I think the people who wrote the bible intended it to be figurative. Traditional Christian and secular beliefs are opposite of what you said. They interpret it literally, and that's where it becomes unbelievable.

I think it becomes unbelievable about the point where people start coming back from the dead. OR talking snakes. Or God....

Didn't you read the news? Jesus was a zombie but he's currently hiding in a cave southwest of Tel Vos. I find God to be overrated, if he exists, I deny him.

Well, that's fine for you, but for quite a whole lot of people, God's not unbelievable. I'm telling Nena! Off-Topic: I wonder what the reaction of the mortal band "Nena" would be if they knew there was someone with a devout belief that they are God.

Wow, that's kind of....odd.
Seeing as though you said "if" you must not believe but "if" he did, you'd deny him and burn in hell for an eternity in pain and agony?
Let's see pain+agony or eternal peace.
I think I'll take the second one...

You know what surprises me? I've never seen a Christian with a sig that says "God believes in natural selection."

Everything makes sense. Or is God the one exception? That sure is believable. I'm ganna go down to the church and talk to the priest that God didn't stop from graduating seminary school, assuming he's not making love to a child at that moment.

He/She could be the one exception. And you better watch out, and don't drop the Bible when you're there

Why would God do that? Why would He/She/It make itself the only illogical thing? It'd be more believable if we had something to compare God to.
(Also, you missed a point I was making in that sub-par joke. I was pointing out that, if God exists, why would he allow priests who bang kids to become priests?)

The bible does have something about my shepherds will lead you astray. Why? I don't know. I don't even know the whole point of this , we're given temptation to go against him, to then be let loose in a maze to try to find him again rather than just staying with him to begin with. It all seems very manipulative.

Maybe god is an A-hole and wants us to play through his death trap so he can get a hearty laugh. Who knew a thousand years ago that "shepherds leading you astray" would turn out to mean priests having butt sex with childeren.

Butt sex, being led astray, it's a similar idea.

Off topic here, I was really grossed out in that Brokeback Mountain scene where they got "lead astray" (If you're about to flame me for not being PC, it's a joke.)

Well, you know, Sheeps, and Shephards... they um... kind of go together as a couple. Usually they wear a sheep mask. Is that anywhere in the bible? I went to a bestiality site once. I laughed my off... "Now, if you put your tongue like that, you're going to get pissed on in the face. Trust me, I'd know."

I see the existence of God to be.. ridiculous. It doesn't work in my mind but I can't prove that he doesn't exist. Science explains lots of things that the bible 'explained'.
However, IF he exists I'm going to deny him for pretending to be so good but truthfully, he never helps. Your faith helps, he doesn't. I'd rather burn in agony than submit to anyone or anything that allows lives to be ruined.
How many times has God stopped someone in Africa starving and dying? And if you say we do because he acts through us, we truly don't have free will. If you say we help because we're true christians, it isn't *God* - it's faith.

And that's why I don't subscribe to it.

I'd quote my previous post but I can't seem to find it in all these pages "The bible says that God made Adam and Eve, gave them free will, and let history unravel from there, giving it a small push from time to time." the priests are a sick result of humanity not God
