Who was attacking who? I was kidding about the National Socialist part, just trying to humor my audience, eh? Nobody. Just a heads up.

Well, i've seen some of the older threads in here with his input, and, well, they're not really the best, really.
Go to the last page of the debate guild and work backwards.

I was just curious as to people's views on gay marriage here. I'm not gay and I don't really have any gay friends, but I am pro-gay marriage. Probably one reason for this is that I'm not religious, since that seems to be one of the biggest arguments against it. To me though, it seems stupid to make a law about it. I mean, if every gay person in the world got married, how will it make my life worse? I don't have much more to say than that right now, but please share your thoughts, views, and opinions on gay marriage or other closely related subjects. I am open to gay marriage and am gay myself. As for the reasoning for making an anti-gay marriage law, it's to appeal to the voting base of the republican party since the majority of the republican party's base are fundamental Christians.

Let them do whatever the hell they want. They could draw a vagina on their face and walk around naked for all I care then get married in a liquor store.
I really doubt allowing homsexuals to marry will cause the Apocalypse.
If it causes the Apocalypse, THEN we have problems.

0wn3d! It's sad, but true. Polotics and religion are growing synonomous.

...in America. We're having less of that problem over here in Europe. The poll at the bottom is very interesting - "Most Important Candidate Quality". Bush voters didn't seem to put much concern in intelligence, which is convenient.

Marriage, civil unions... except for where the ceremony occurs, they both are the same basically. I'm not gay, so I might be completely off base here but, I think that since it became socially acceptable to "come out of the closet" as it were, gay people yearn to be thought of in society as people, period. Not stereotyped as gay or homosexual. I have a black friend who asked me how often I think of him as being black. I said hardly ever and he told me he wished the rest of society would think like me. That he's a man... not a black man.
But I digress... So maybe gay people strive to become "married" so they can get closer to the point where they are just like society in general... people, with no labels attached. Or to just be able to be a beneficiary of government pensions if their lifelong spouse were to pass away. Which I think only goes to "married" people.
To state my view on this topic... In my eyes, for two people to be joined in holy matrimony or "marriage", the ceremony must be performed in a traditional religious church before the eyes of God. And it is unfair to demand that an institution that is 2000 years old change some of its most fundamental beliefs.

Perhaps, or perhaps the next Republican candidate might get more of a secular vote. Time will tell. Also, considering any 3rd Party candidate will probably not be winning any time soon... People complain about no competition, and soon as one actually appears... Wam-Bam-Bam-Bam-Wam-Bam-Bam, thank you Hymie (don't ask, Frantics thingie). But it's to be expected. Conservative Christians in this forum are targets: redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/target.htm

Competition doesn't interest me, nor does arguing. I desire rights and equality for all citizens, not partisan arguments.
I only argue because some people refuse to let go of outdated and inadequate principles. I only compete because I'm concerned that some people in my country are getting the shaft when it comes to basic civil rights.
I long for the day when I no longer have to argue nor compete. I'm not holding my breath, though.

But you can feel free to argue if you want of course. Bring as many of your conservative friends here as you want. I'm sure I can bring a few of them back from the dark side. It just depends on how far gone the poor dears are.

Even debating against an unintelligent cause can be fun. That said, I wouldn't mind my if my opponents - theists, usually - were the minority in the world, rather than the majority. I'd sacrifice a lot of argument to make the world a more informed place.

But they still should have the right to choose what they accept and what they don't. -Levi
