After much searching, I hadn't found a full-on smithing mod, so I decided to take it on myself, despite knowing nothing about scripting at the time.
So here I am, with the script working, and the mod is almost playable. What it does is let you craft your own weapons and armour using both new and existing raw materials.
Ore is smelted into ingots using a forge, and these ingots are made into armour and weapons by using anvils. Leather and Fur are made from animal pelts and the tanning rack.
I have placed one public forge in every major city, usually in the main armourer's store of that city. There are additional forges for more specialised armour types (Legion, Blades etc). All public forges can be used to make the standard weapon/armour types. The types you are allowed to make depends on your armourer skill, and some types require special books in your inventory to create. When using the forge, the player must be wearing protective gloves and a blacksmith's apron.
What has been done:
- fully working smelting, smithing and tanning scripts (added to the appropriate activators)
- new raw materials created (using placeholder meshes)
- added forges to most major cities, and smithing hammers to all of them
- blacksmith's gloves created
- smelting/smithing costs a small gold fee
- raw materials and books added to vendors
- fully working mining process, with ore veins added to 18 existing mines
What needs done:
- new meshes, icons and textures for raw materials
If anyone can make the new meshes, icons and textures then please get in touch, since I don't have the tools and skills required for that. There's a +100 karma in it for you. When it's ready for testing I'll put up a link. Screenshots of my current progress.
Also, if someone could make 2 NPCs and 2 interiors for the tanneries, that would be a great help.
