I'm running version 1.4 I think and so far the only game that actually works on it is Quest64 I don't get any graphics on the others, just a black or white screen is it the emulator or my computer?

Quest64? Well, I hope you like RPGs with no story...
Anyways, since I assume that the emulator works for other people, it is a problem on your end, though emulators are rarely programed in the most bug free way. You'd probably be better off talking to someone that know the particular bugs of that emulator than around here.

I used to use project64, a while ago when I was still into emulators... Everything I used loaded fine... Dunno what version I had though.

I think it might be something to do with the graphics plug in and my video card....cause I can play command and conquer but I only get part of the screen for some reason.. anyway, I'll go look somewhere else

From what I remember Quest64 is one of the simplest N64 games out there, to the point where pretty much ANY emulator will get it right, which is pretty shocking given that most of them were designed around support for either Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007, or most often, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
At any rate, I think this may be an issue of your graphics hardware and graphics plug-in; if memory serves me correctly, Project64 is now on version 1.6; I'd highly recommend that version, as it introduces a MASSIVE change: the inclusion of the Direct3D 8 plug-in, as an alternative to the Direct3D 6 default plug-in.
Technically, the D3D6 plugin is the more technically "accurate" one, however, its support for pretty much every game is sub-par; almost EVERY title will have some issues with it. D3D8 is not actually any more demanding, it simply requires a video card that can support D3D8, meaning a Radeon 8500, GeForce 3 (NOT GeForce MX!) or higher. It implements a number of "high-level" fixes to countless problems found in many games, by simply avoiding direct replication of what the N64 does, and simply replacing it with a small shader script.
At any rate, what other problems might you be experiencing? Is everything in Quest64 looking proper? Note that Brian's (the protagonist) cape should be RED, not WHITE; if it's white, then there's a bit of a problem that could be related to your problem elsewhere. Using a modern video card (Radeon X8xx series) and the D3D8 plug-in, the game is flawlessly replicated, and a lot of flaws in other games are fixed.

Don't use project64. use 1964 with Jabo's D3D8 plugin and the default UltraHLE audio plugin. Also there is an "unofficial RSP" plugin. Use that as it will increase compadibility and performance.

I've never actually used 1964 before, but I guess I may have to go give it a shot. But from my experience, there has yet to be a case where one set of plug-ins (or one emulator, for the emulators that don't use plugins) that works perfectly. The one with the biggest issue has always been the video plug-in; the default RSP plug-in for P64 is a very accurate low-level emulation of the chip itself, and as such, while it may not be the smoothest in performance, it's close to problem-free. (the only one I can think of is that sound is pretty much out-of-the-question for TWINE 007) Hence, thus far, my tactics have been to use P64, and swap video plug-ins as necessary. The Jabbo D3D8 one is overall the best, as it gets good support for pretty much any title out there; it still misses some things, though.

1964 is just WAY faster especially with the big title commercial games. It's very compatible too. Almost as good as P64. OoT, and DK64 ran perfectly fine. On a side note, the N64 emulators have spectacular framerates with a directsound plugin and and Audigy card. Did I mention I acheived the 1964 emulating greatness of 16x AF @ 1280x960x32 with smooth framerates on a 900 mhz celeron machine with PCI graphics and 256mb SDRAM?
