I've got to say, practically everything in this movie impressed me. Johnny Depp was as good as he was in the first, as Cap'n Jack Sparrow but the entire cast (I felt) really stood out as individual characters, and weren't dominated by Depp's character. I can imagine the temptation to have the entire movie revolve around it's most celebrated actor, but the director, Gore Verbinski, didn't do that. Sparrow's antics definitely are still a major part, but the real focus is more on Orlando Bloom's character, and the other pirates as well. The biggest surprise for me was Bloom's acting. I thought he did an awful job playing a would-be hero in Troy, but he does a superb job in this film. He's an excellent foil for Sparrow, and is more likeable in this one, at least to me anyway. The plot also has a lot of twists to it (fortunately for you, not revealed here! ), and most of the characters reprise their roles. The story integrates well with the first one, but stands alone so seeing the first one isn't necessary. The action sequences also do a nice job of alternating serious engagements such as the various bouts the ships have with a Kraken, and humorous moments. Overall, I can't say there was anything I was dissapointed with. Keira Knightley is still incredibly hot , and the ships still look incredible, as well as more interesting and colorful than the ones in Master and Commander. I'd give it 10/10 . Stolen from that Dark Helmet guy on the Drawbridge.

Damn it's good. It's a rare film in that it's better than the first. And of course they kept the ace music.

I was actually dissappointed with the movie. It felt that it was too rushed, like the flow between all the "sub"-plots was poorly done. And it felt extra-Disney. *shrug*

The End sucked and that's what happens when you suddenly decide it's going to be a trilogy.
