I really don't care at all when they say "save the our planet" I say "Why? What has it ever done for me?"

I'd like to see people do something about it. I try not to cause any unneeded damage, but I can't see myself going out of my way to do any more unless everyone else pulls their heads back out of where the sun don't shine and does the same.

I just started reading "An Inconvenient Truth" I'll get back to you when I'm done. For now all I can say is that it will probably affect us a lot sooner than we all think. I don't recycle for the next generation, I do it for mine.

I really don't care at all when they say "save the our planet" I say "Why? What has it ever done for me?" Hm... Didn't Penn and Teller's Bullshit do an episode on Recycling? Why... I do believe they did! Sadly, youtube couldn't find it... Ach, shade...

Penn and Teller have a strong libertarian agenda, so take anything they "debunk" with a grain of salt. I so agree with some of their viewpoints about some of the issues, but others - not so much. There is ample scientific evidence that pollution is already taking its toll on the Earth and thus indirectly on the human population.
I'm with iguess. I'm worried about my lifetime. If I live to be 100, and people don't shape up their habits soon, it could be a very miserable old age for me.

I really don't care at all when they say "save the our planet" I say "Why? What has it ever done for me?" I'm sorry, but that's just plain stupid. How about everything you're made up of comes from the earth? Or the air you breathe, water you drink, food you eat? The planet gave you life, and you're content with people sucking the life out of the earth? It's that attitude that I really can't stand.

I know it´s there, but I don´t care. The REALLY bad effects won´t happen until I´m old or dead, and I don´t care about those freeloading bastards in the next generation. What have they ever done for me? Nothing, let ém drown or burn or whatever. I think it´s about time the human race died anyway.

I shall second that, mike. Thirded. It is an attitude I cannot stand, and have great difficulty understanding. I know much of humanity is mired in short-sighted, self-satisfying stupidity......but come on. If you can operate a computer, surely you can't be that incredibly dumb. Then again.....

Aren't you and I ourselves standing on the shoulders of past generations? This is how humanity works... we help one another out and pave the road for a better future. If everyone thought the way you think, people would have just laid down and let Hitler run them down. The most critical flaw I can imagine in the character of any human being is such total apathy..the inability to empathize with other human beings, to put yourself in someone else's shoes. I have to attempt to make the world a better place because I put myself in the shoes of the kids who aren't even born yet whose future depends on our actions here and now. I'd feel like a failure as a human being if I didn't care.

I'd feel like a failure as a human being if I didn't care. Nothing makes the more freeloading. We're plenty freeloading ourselves. So freeloading, in fact, that I freeload too much to help other freeloaders. Actually, if everyone thought the way I did Hitler wouldn't have run anybody down. He would have quit his job, and sat on a hammok by the beach and let the stress roll off. And I know it'll suck for them. I don't have to walk in their shoes to do that. But then again I don't care about them. See, I do things for the result. I don't give to charity, I don't let people cross the street, and I certainly don't get out of my way to help other people if it will bring no benefit to me. I don't see why our generation should work our asses off so that some other generation can enjoy the fruits of our work. Let em die, melt, drown, burn, or whatever else will happen.

Can I get a link that says that oil reserves will run short in about half a century? I am not trying to argue I just wanna see some expert opinion. My thought it we are not the cause of global warming. The earth was way hotter in the dinosaur age. Those that believe in atheism and science and all that should know that we are not a permanent species and that eventually we will be gone like the dinosaurs. That can happen due to temperature change. Apparently we are still in an Ice age. www.museum.state.il.us/exhibits/ice_ages/when_ice_ages.htmlI do not know how credible this is but I found it and thought it somewhat interesting.

Knock Yourself out. While there is no proof that humans are the cause of global warming, we do know that there is a greenhouse effect involving the earth's atmosphere. We know that CO 2 is one of the gases that causes this greenhouse effect. The only real question is whether or not we're producing enough CO 2 to actually effect this action. We also know that Global warming is a bad thing. Basically, it is a case of pressing a big red button. It might not be doing anything, by why take that chance? Besides, CO 2 isn't really the best thing to put in the atmospere anyways.(Oh, and you would do well to note that there is nothing in the theory of evolution that says that one species has to eventually die out.) Looks decently credible, but humans have only been around for ~200,000 years, so we're basically ice age creatures... I mean, the dinosaurs might have survived when it was hotter, but we aren't dinosaurs, are we?

I get where you are coming and and I sort of agree. I am just saying that everyone who is saying its ALL our fault need to research this a little. Even if it is not caused by us it can still spell destruction is what you are saying right?

Whether the sea is rising due to humans or something else ain't going to change the way it floods the coastline.

However if it is natural cause(my belief) then there is little we can do about it anyways.
