I'm not a religious person myself. I don't believe in a higher power, but religion is part of our history, and it tells a story of our family trees.
My mother came from a catholic family. My father from a protestant family. My grandmother's mother, ( I guess that makes her my great granny) was jewish.
What's your backround?

My mother's family is catholic.
My father's....I don't know, he doesn't talk about his family.
My background in religion isn't a pleasent one, lets just leave it there, I don't know what to believe in anymore, as I'm still fighting thoughts of what I once had...I hate when my past catches up with me.

I'm agnostic. I prefer not to operate under the pretense that I know what awaits me in the afterlife, because I feel it lends more weight to the personal morality I follow in my life if it's not dependent on the promise of heaven or the punishment of a hell.
Most of the members of my family are the same, except for my youngest brother whom is a Christian and my mother who is Wiccan.

Catholic.
Though I'm discovering a lot I don't wish to know.
Conflicting interests.

Sometimes we have to ask ourselves if it's really possible to discover anything if it's something imposed upon us as a rule. That's my main gripe with organized religion..people behave because they're afraid of what may happen if they don't, rather than on the merit of their own ideas of what's acceptable. There's nothing wrong with living your life by some moral compass, but is it okay if it feels forced? Can't we devise our own compass, for better or worse? Can't religion, too, be democratic? Food for thought.

I'm baptized catholic/christian but I lean more towards being agnostic or an atheist. I refuse to live my life dictated by a rulebook, but rather by who I am.

My mother grew up... Episcopal, if I remember correctly.
As a family, going by my dad's side of the family, whenever we've gone to church it's been UCC (United Church of Christ).
I personally don't really care much about religion. I guess I'm agnostic.

My mother was pretty heavily christian for a while there, my dad just went along with it. Her faith began to wane when I was fairly young, as did my own.

I am agnostic... And unfortunately (for me), I come from a very Christian family. My uncle, and mothers step father, are both very fundamentalistic Christians. Though my uncles a more well... Fanatical in some ways. My mothers mother, is also one, so is my mother herself (fundamentalist), my aunt related to my uncle is also, a Christian, my other uncle is a atheist. My cousins from my fathers brothers, are also both Christians, so are my fathers parents. I've been considered an atheist, myself simply because I don't believe in Christianity. (By my mothers step father).
Me, my father, his other brother, and his older brothers wife, along with me my step father, and maybe my step fathers parents, are all agnostic, mostly leaning towards atheist. As far as I know, the rest of the family are Christians, varying, in the types they are.
It's mostly Christian, I'd say 8 out of 11 people are Christians in it, and a few are agnostic, and very very few are atheist. My other uncle, (the one seen as a atheist) COULD be a Satanist for all I know, but thats it.

Father's side: Catholic. Father: Athiest. Mother's side: Some denomination of Chrisitianity. Mother: Agnostic.
Me: Athiest/Buddhist(Theravada). (Buddhists are athiests by definition, but I tend to not lean toward the more "mystical" aspects of the religion.)

My dad was catholic and went to catholic school, but ditched religion when he realized that it was a steaming pile of bs. My mom's family are all trailer trash who are too lazy to go to church so nothing for them.

My mom's Catholic, and my dad is Episcopalian or something, but neither of them go anymore. I'm agnostic, but it's subject to change.

Anyone here heard the song "God Thinks" by Voltaire? It sums up modern day organized religion nicely.

I was baptised catholic, but I renounced my faith (which still makes my mother cringe) and I am an atheist.

I come from a Christian family and that's what I am too. My father is a pastor and my brother is a youth leader at the same church. My faith is something I hold onto more than anything in my life, I don't think I could live without it.
